Social media today (fortunately or unfortunately) is a part of our everyday life. It’s integrated in everything. What does your screen time say? How many hours a day do you waste scrolling Instagram?
If we accept the fact that we’re going to use social media, then let’s actually use it in a way that is in our own best interest – networking, making money, learning something new, etc.
I’ll use Instagram as the platform of example. Here are 10 my rules for a fire profile.
1. Bomb profile photo that sparks interest
2. Short bio – no cringy inspirational quotes, a thousand emojis, who you’re in love with, your dog’s name, bla bla bla. You’ll look like a clown. Use as little info as possible unless your profile is a personal brand. I personally just have my age there. My friend literally just has “7 figures” which is in my opinion genius (it’s my idea after all)
3. Followers to following ratio of 2:1 at min. (preferably over 2)
4. Scarce stories – max 3-4 times a month – must be something perceived as extreme value by others – feel free to spark controversy – show a sense of humo – use 2-3 highlights – lifestyle, travel, xyz
5. Be a man with a recognizable and genuine attitude & style that commands respect
6. Be controversial if necessary
7. Scarce timeline photos – max 6 in a single year – extreme value – aesthetic – travel, fashion, fitness, etc. – short/no description (I use a single rarely used emoji) – the photos should appear connected in regard to the colors and filter when looked at all-together – disable comments either immediately or after an hour of posting
8. Scarcely give out likes – do it by feel
9. Don’t DM first – but when someone DM’s you, don’t be rude
10. Public/Private account decision – depends solely on the type of person you are and if you plan on doing business with it (personal brand)
Once again, you’re the fucking man and everyone wants to have a little bit of insight in your exciting life. You are their drug and you give them just enough so they stay hooked forever. That’s going to be your attitude.
Exclusivity – that’s the word of the day. You post a bomb story from Mykonos, and then you’re gone for a month – no posts. Then you appear again with a story driving a Ferrari in Dubai. If you want people to talk about you, just disappear (or appear very scarcely), both online and in the physical world.
Don’t post photos of you making cringy “funny” faces – that shit is whack and only for girls.
Don’t post inspirational/motivational quotes – only broke people do this.
