When using the missing item method, it is always recommended to target products that weigh less than 120 grams. This is because the company will investigate your claim and verify that the total weight of the products shipped matches the estimated one. However, products that weigh less than 120 grams are out of  the range of sensitivity for the measurement used by companies, so with good strategy, you can often get a refund.

The problem arises when trying to claim a much heavier item, such as a MacBook. In most cases, the claim will be denied because investigations are sufficient to confirm that the laptop was inside the box.

As a SE, it is important to exploit any weaknesses in the system. That's why it is still possible to successfully claim a MacBook through the missing item method. This method has been personally tested.

To do this, you should check the label on the delivered package, particularly the weight, and compare it to the actual weight of the box. Sometimes, companies may put a random weight on the label that is lower than it should be. In this case, you can contact the store and explain that your box was empty, and that you were embarrassed when you realized that the weight of the box could not justify the presence of your item. By acting confused and providing proof that the box did not come in the correct format, they will be obligated to refund you.
