Kali Linux VM and general help

I am learning to operate Kali Linux Virtual Machine, i was just wondering if anyone has steps for any small tasks or projects i can do to self teach, trial and error?

I am currently under the teachings of a semi-experianced black hat hacker that is teaching me little bits, but mostly tells me to figure it out for myself as its the best way to learn so all im asking for is some pointers or friendly advice.

my end goal is to be able to penetrate servers encrypt and collect data for ethical reasons.

any help would be much appreciated!

no not at all, he has enough knoiwlage to be able to get USA paypal accounts, he just wont teach me in detail... hes giving me bread crumbs to follow. whilst keeping my finances up with the applepay method

getting paypal accounts is very basic level stuff man

yes exactly thats what im learning that this guy is doing small things though big to me. and i know if i can learn wire the electrics up to a control panel and strip a double decker bus engine and coolant system in less than a year i can learn this eventually in depth.
