Orange County Jail Warden Roxanne Laub lived lavishly for years, spending large sums of money on dinners at upscale establishments and drinks at Hollywood bars. It turns out she stole the money from her 75-year-old grandmother.

Investigators found that from 2015 to 2017, the 33-year-old woman forged her grandmother’s signature on more than 20 checks to transfer about $45,000 from her account to her own. She also called the bank multiple times and tried to impersonate her 75-year-old relative to obtain information about her account.

From March 2020 to September 2022, Laub also used her grandmother’s credit card to withdraw thousands of dollars for personal expenses. In total, we are talking about $14,000. At the same time, the pensioner knew nothing about what was happening.

“I know what I did is unforgivable,” Laub wrote to one of her relatives, agreeing to pay restitution.

Even so, the 33-year-old faces up to 45 years in prison on bank fraud and identity theft charges. Her sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 2025.
