Guess 90% of people reading this have heard about DOSING/DDOSING A SITE.."Bring down that mf lets ddos it" - common phrase.
Hmm..DOS[Denial of Service]
As the name says, services coming to a server are being denied by it. In common words a server is not responding.
Why is it not responding?
See an example as a 12x12 room - how many people can fit in that room ? 8/10/12 .Not more than that right..
Same shit goes for the servers hosting your websites..
if 100 people say an example requests the same resource at the same time, the server hangs and dosent respond.
DOS uses a single computer a tool such as Low orbit Ion Canon, hydra, Burpsuite, SQLMAP, Postman etc and a single network..
You just make a request >>repeat n number of times till the site/server is down.
Can be used to play prank , bringing down rivals and can be merged with various other attacks to compromise users security.
Example: Our freind Robin DOSed a site and took it down, He then uses SMTP to send bulk phishing mails to all the users of that site stating something like:
"Hi this is Martin from Customer Support XYZ"
Our site was experiencing some technical issues and is now active again.
Kindly login to your account and change your user-credentials as soon as possible
