Barely a week after the cybercriminal hacker forum Breached was shut down following the arrest of its administrator, the site is being allegedly resurrected by someone claiming to be a former member of the Anonymous gang.
The hacker, known by the Twitter handle Pirata, posted an advert on the social networking site Monday, looking for help administrating the new forum.
Joined in January of 2022, Pirata’s Twitter account shows three flags next to its moniker – Brazil, Germany, and the US.
Pirata’s bio simply states "ex Anonymous Hacker."
“BF is down, kkksecforum is up. I need someone who would like to work with me administrating the Forum. Contact me if interested,” Pirata posted.
Problem is – as one fellow hacker site noted – the purported new name of the reincarnated BreachForums site is one that is sure to invoke a firestorm of opinions.
The folks at VX-underground, who run an online library filled with troves of hacker-related materials, pointed out the apparent faux pas in a tweet Monday.
“tl;dr your website name says "White Nationalist Cyber Security Forum" for English speakers,” vx-underground stated.
The ex-anonymous hacker responded almost immediately to the tweet.
“Yes we are aware of what it means in english [sic]. We bought the domain because kkk refers to LOL and we hack sistems (sic) just for laughs like Lulz Sec. We will leave several notices on the site saying that our kkk does not refer to the ku klux klan. We are sorry for those wo [sic] felt offended,” the tweet said.
VX-underground then tweeted back, “It isn't necessarily 'offensive' - it is your language and culture. We wanted to note though that this reference may not translate well internationally. =D.”
Other Twitter users then began to chime in on the debate.
“I will say I seen that and that was my first thought,” said one tweet.
Another user wrote, “Who cares what we English speakers think. If he’s Portuguese then let him use his own lingo.”
Apparently, as explained by vx-underground in a later tweet, the moniker “translates roughly to "ha" or "haha" You'll see many Brazilians write "kkkkkkkkk" when something is funny - meaning "hahahaha."
So it seems to be unofficially, yet officially settled.
The new name of the so-called Breached replacement site will be “kkksecforum.”
The most recent, and probably last ever, Breached administrator, known as "Baph," had announced he was shutting down the site permanently due to fears law enforcement had compromised the forum following the arrest of its former administrator "Pompompurin," aka suspect Conor Fitzpatrick.
BreachForums can now rest in peace.
