Hey I'm kinda new at this, I've seen a few posts about cracking and if I understand correctly it's basically a software which if fed a bunch of email and pass combos and tries a bunch of permutations of them to find accounts.

But I don't understand the need of a proxy? What exactly is a proxy and it's role?

you need proxy because your ip can be blocked by many site when you use proxyless but when you use proxy you dont use you ip
