Cracking a modded Android APK

So I've gotten my hands on a 'hack' for a game and it requires a license in order to run, just wondering if possible to remove license restriction or somehow bypass it (It's built into the APK and pops up with license required when you launch the game).

Happy to put in the work myself just really not sure where to start looking.
