There is a concept in psychology used to refer to a psychological state that one can enter under certain conditions. The state is referred to as 'flow.' Flow may occur when an individual is engaged in an acitivity: 1) that holds their interest, 2) they have some level of control over, 3) where the skill level required generally equates to their own abilities (challenging but not too difficult). When one enters a state of flow they may lose all track of time, disengage from the outside world hyper focusing on the task at hand, feel a sense of accomplishment . . .
Hacking is an activity that people believe can lead to a state of flow. Anecdotally, we know that some hackers become very engaged in their hacking activities spending numerous hours (sometimes days) at a time at their computer.
Do you believe that you have experienced flow while hacking?
