How Is Counter-Strike Still Insanely Popular Today?

Counter-Strike is almost or just as old as Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament. Each CS game played like 1.6. So how come it's more popular in the mainstream than Q3 and UT? CS has a dedicated player base that keeps bringing new players simply because of its popularity as a game that is easy to learn but hard to master. With skins involved also, it brings in people who are playing to make a profit. Arena shooters have died a bit as I'd assume not many players are interested in them anymore as they are mostly die hard fans of what they play. Splitgate was a game that tried to become a new popular arena shooter but it died quick, so idk how or why that's the case but I know that the premise of CS plays a major role in its attraction
