From what I know, you can't really remove the iCloud lock. The only way is by modifying the hardware and flashing a new serial number. That process is really long and expensive. By the time you pay someone to do that, you spent more money on the repair than what you'd make selling it.

Actually right now you can unlock/jailbreak to bypass the icloud lock but that is only possible for iPhone X and below ( iOS 13.3.1 and lower) which is pretty impressive. The software is made by F3arRa1n and you can go find him on twittter. It's free for 1 device and then you have to pay I think.
