If you have shared folders between your desktop and the host the malware can be duplicated otherwise via network.

short answer: yes
If you are using outdated version of smb protocol there're more vulnerabilities Wannacry leveraged an exploit and got into many systems via smb

Possible, but not likely I think. But still, better be safe than sorry, make sure mate
