For the first time in cryptocurrency history, Japanese authorities have arrested a gang of 18 fraudsters by analyzing Monero transactions.
Japanese authorities analyzed about 900 transactions related to money laundering through Monero (XMR), worth approximately 100 million yen ($670,000), which were the result of criminal activity by a fraudster gang.
Japanese authorities told local publication Nikkei that this is the first time in history that law enforcement in the country has used Monero transactions to identify a criminal group.
