Kingdom Hearts III, or: How Sqaure Enix/Disney Abandoned Their Fanbase

Anyone else feel like Kingdom Hearts III was aimed for even younger audiences then the originals were? I binged through the whole series in the correct order to get myself ready and...I just felt let-down.

I heard a lot of negative things about KH3. Personally, I had a hard enough time getting through the original KH1 that I haven't even played the other games yet. Do you recommend them? I picked up the KH1.5-2.5 collection a while back and most of it is still untouched.
