MMORPG's are Dead?

I have thought of that for the longest time. Nowadays a lot of MMORPG/RPG devs, I feel like, have turned to mobile gaming. Remembering Aika, Cabal, MU Online, and RAN Online gives me such nostalgia for the old days though. Games such as GW2 and BDO don't really catch my attention for the long term though. Don't know why.

Today there's this mentality that only the end-game matters, so games put the player too fast on end-game/max level, and end-game is just a bunch of daily chores and repetitive stuff.

I wouldn't say mmorpgs are dead, there's always some new mmorpgs coming up and people playing, but developers don't know how to create good progression systems, and because of that, player retention on mmorpgs is pretty bad overall.

I played Final Fantasy XI for a long time (almost 10 years) and I had a blast doing it. At that time, it was the journey and friendship that mattered, not directly going to end-game and whatnot. Now everyone just wants to get into end-game after starting and it kinda kills the spirit of most games.
