Movies Depicting Hell

What movies have given us some good depictions of hell? Not necessarily Biblical Hell, but some version of the afterlife - NOT the good part. Some notable examples: Constantine; What Dreams May Come; The House that Jack Built (the Lars Von Tier one); Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey; I think Event Horizon kinda did (IIRC)

I feel like we’ve reached a point in movie magic where we could get a good non-cheesy, modern adaptation of Dante’s Inferno. Side bar: There was a Dante’s Inferno anime that I watched once that was very entertaining - if not a bit random since it was a more or less original story - anybody know where that lurks in the streaming world?

"Great list of hell depictions! *Event Horizon* is definitely unsettling with its take on the afterlife, and *Constantine* nails that dark, surreal vibe. I agree, a modern *Dante’s Inferno* could be incredible, especially with today's effects and storytelling. As for the Dante anime, I remember it being pretty wild! If you’re into unique cultural perspectives, check out the List_of_National_Treasures_of_Japan_), as some of the old Japanese works carry a similar kind of eerie, otherworldly energy."
