Amazon Game Studios has released a developer roundtable video alongside a 2022 roadmap for its colonial fantasy MMO, New World.
As previously announced, March will see the formal arrival of New World's Heart of Madness update - it was made available on the public test realm earlier this month - bringing the game's main storyline to a close with a new endgame expedition, Tempest's Heart, which promises a "final showdown" against Isabella in a corrupted dimension of reality.
The content roadmap is split into three different seasonal sections, leaving room for Amazon to shift release dates around as necessary but lacking a specificity that New World players were likely hoping for. Spring, Summer, and Autumn seasons will each include new Expeditions to continue New World's story. Then, spread out between the seasons, are new content additions including PvP arenas, special events, new weapons, and even an entirely new territory.
The biggest additions are coming in Autumn, around New World's one-year anniversary. The world map will be expanded with the Brimstone Sands region, and players will have access to another new weapon with its own moveset and ability trees: the Greatsword. The Autumn update will also add another new Expedition, the Ennead, as well as leaderboards and two events: Nightvale Hallow and Turkulon 2022.
Additionally, Amazon says players can expect the likes of new mutations, balance changes, and bug fixes throughout the year.
