Option to Default to always showing Threads by Creation Date instead of last post?

Not sure if others agree, but would be nice to have an option to pick the way you want the default layout for the threads. I always prefer to have things sorted by creation date so I can see what threads are new. I know you can scroll to bottom each time and change it to sort by Creation Date but would be nice if way to just always select that default. 

Also, would be helpful since when searching, there is no way to search by creation date any more on search results themselves.
