This could be a good balance for all the perks despite it being free.

Still not sure what the hang up is on the paid ranks. Yes, incentivize paid upgrades. But also incentivize legitimate community contribution that has nothing to do with throwing money at C.to. Thousands of people are going to continue to do that regardless. There's surely been enough profit made from outrageously priced custom usergroups to fund hosting this site for the next 10 years.

The idea is nice but imo the smaller things like the Username effect, etc that is just minor details that should go to Heaven and Godlike. Although more rep and some minor things could be cool too ofc.

Been thinking about this for a bit. Contributor is significantly harder to get than Supreme, yet Supreme is just a better rank. It looks way nicer, it has a more noticeable username effect, and it has a thread prefix bonus. Contributor has none of that, it's just this flat yellow boring whatever. Everything above and below Contributor looks nicer and is more rewarding to strive for or just easier to get. It's time for an upgrade.

I understand incentivizing people to purchase upgrades because sites cost money to run but incentivizing community contribution should also be a primary function as well.

If this thread gets enough support I'll draft some mockups and stuff and make a thread where we can all vote on the best one.

Perhaps make it so Contributors can use auth tools that is rank blocked aka only accessible to e.x Premium+, Infinity+ and Supreme. Feel like it is a smaller change and rewards those who really actively contribute.
