That on it's own should tell you to stay away from Telegram if you're using it for 'serious' things.

They have complied with court orders from numerous countries - so yes they cooperate w/ "feds".

Telegram's legal wording is intentionally vague to allow some discretion for when they want to push back on requests.  According to their own policies "For confirmed terrorist investigations, Telegram may disclose IP and phone number to relevant authorities."  Think that doesn't apply to you?  We are considered "cyberterrorists" for just being a member of this forum.  In the USA, anybody near Washington DC on 1/6/2021 is considered a potential terrorist.  The definition of what a terrorist is has gone from bad guys who want to blow up stuff to something that has much less significance.  Are relevant authorities the FBI, the FSB, Interpol, a local police department?

The company retains your IP address, username changes, and private conversations for at least 1 year.  Although it is only mentioned they will hand over IP and phone number info, do you really trust their compliance?  What's to say their policy doesn't change a month from now?

Also, if the FBI has a handout for what information it can request, you can fucking guarantee those companies have given up that information before.  https://i.imgur.com/kc3MfAK.png
