OP 12 October, 2023 - 03:44 AM
I've been diagnosed with narcolepsy for 5 years now. Obviously, sleep is something that I know a lot about and have tried EVERYTHING in order not to feel sleepy 24/7.
The title probably gave it away already - my neurologist always recommended 8 hours of sleep or even more for a narcoleptic.
With a constant regime with 8 hours I felt quite okay but I was 16 at that time and didn't have many physical traumas from competing in sports. Now - that my body is tired and in pain consistantly, plus have more computer work, I need a different regime.
To sum it up rapidly, I tried sleeping only for 5 hours... and, well, I feel like a beast!
My conclusion from this: not everyone needs 8 hours - our bodies are very different and each and every one adapts to its own surroundings and habits. Mine can do good with 5 hours. Experiment and find out your needs.
Have a splendid day,
