I haven't tried completely as I'm waiting for the December sale, however I was able to select myself under gift an upgrade and it brought up the c.to sellix embed to process the payment. So I'm almost positive that you're able to just upgrade yourself to receive the member upgrade award. If someone wants to test this lmk how it turns out.
