So I'm not sure how many people have found this out however, Windows has a Sandbox feature. I knew about this but I never knew how to turn it on. One drawback of utilizing this is that you can't save records on that VM. When you close it everything is erased. This makes it ideal for playing with malware and viruses.
Prerequisites for using the feature
Make sure your PC has Hyper-V enabled, you can check in task manager
If it isn't enabled, google your motherboard bios and search how to enable virtualization, and follow the steps.
Once you have enabled that, press your windows key and search for Turn Windows features on or off
Click on it then scroll all the way down until you see Windows Sandbox. After that is enabled, restart your PC and now you have a VM that boots within 15 seconds (for me at least)
Prerequisites for using the feature
- Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise Insider build 18305 or later
- AMD64 architecture
- Virtualization capabilities enabled in BIOS
- At least 4GB of RAM (8GB recommended)
- At least 1 GB of free disk space (SSD recommended)
- At least 2 CPU cores (4 cores with hyperthreading recommended)
