Hello, my native language is french and in three months im going to trip in united kingdom, so the question is how to learn english fast, im very bad at grammar and speaking. Thanks for help!
I've been in many Uber & Lyft rides with people who doesn't have English as a first language. The most common thing I hear that helped them is to watch a movie that you already watched, but just watch it in english subs next time. This way, you already know what is going to happen, however, you can read the english for it to, "kind of", "translate", it yourself subconsciously.
I have to agree wrt to movies and TV - absolute best way, esp with subtitles. I've tried a few apps like Duo ling, so maybe throw something like that in the mix as well if you are concerned about grammar. That was ages ago, so I’m sure they have much better free apps now, There are a billion online ESL resources if you want to work on your grammar propa (ha), but most English speakers don't actually know 'propa' grammar. I mean, they obviously know the basics, I'm just saying I wouldn't invest much time into the 6 tenses of the language, Sounds like you are most concerned about speaking and understanding spoken English? If that's the case, practice, practice. Find online video chat forums - great way to get speaking time in, and if it goes to shit or feel overwhelmed, you can just exit and be gone forever. I think most English speakers are happy to help out when you are trying to communicate something. The natural fear that people will think you silly or laugh at you if you don't use proper grammar is mostly unwarranted, People are assholes, but more in the way that they love to feel smarter than others, so they enjoy the opportunity to correct and teach. Again, easy for me to SAY this - I studied French before moving to a French speaking country, but I was such a pussy. If I attempted to speak and someone looked confused, I'd chicken out and default to ....je ne parles pas Français. You can also read really long fukn replies in chat forms, k, I’ll stfu now.
