Are accounts obtained in a legal way ?
Yes, absolutely. Accounts are not carded, nor cracked. The Pro or Business account you get is private and made by myself. Once I give you the crendentials, the account is fully yours. Feel free to change e-mail, password.
What if I simply want to make use of the storage space and not share my work?
You absolutely can do that. Just be aware that Vimeo only supports videos in MP4, MOV, WMV, AVI, and FLV (no MKV).
Uploading via Google Drive and Dropbox is also possible. It is also possible to upload photos through Vimeo Create, but I wouldn't recommend it as a backup option. Google Photos, OneDrive, Dropbox, iCloud and others are better options.
