Dear C.io Team,
I am not 100% sure if this has already been mentioned as I tried to search but could not find it.
This idea is probably not so attractive for proxy providers who advertise their services here, but because there are so many proxy providers nowadays, one sometimes loses the overview.
Often it is called: Depends on your needs; Try until you find the right one for you; Kill yourself.
But actually, it would be very nice if there would be a "Best of 2023 Proxy Provider" and then a ranking up to 10.
Idea:
Preselection by voting, Mod Team is experienced - so I would say they define critical success factors for a reliable good proxy:
For example: Server location.
After defining the most important points, create a weighted average decision matrix - more or less give each success factor a weight, in terms of importance.
Create a matrix, define X,Y Axis, and sort them according to their summed-up points on the matrix (not necessary for visualization).
Based on this, create the top 10: And give a timeframe for users to vote, only 1 vote - not multiple.
To be fair: At this point I would still promote the prominent ones that are at the top of the landing page in the thread, since it has a reason why they are promoted.
At the end you have a review and decision how the community votes.
Of course, this is only relevant for users who use these services.
Reddit does the same, only for VPN - Idk if it's a review for the last year, but I guess it should be.
But here are experienced people with knowledge in this field, especially for Newjoiner it could be helpful.
I just see the trade-off, that providers who pay for ads are a bit under the radar (hopefully not), but a good overview would be beneficial.
Otherwise, you get the Nord-VPN-Syndrome, and cannot read this name anymore.
Sometimes I'm wondering why EVERY Proxy Provider has 150Mio. IPs and 99,9% Uptime. Is this a running gag?

I know that this is most likely not feasible, as it is a clinch and probably a drawback for some.
But based on the argumentation of why a certain proxy provider is good at Connectivity, Support, or whatever - some people might try #5 instead of just following the numbers and going with #1.
Implementing banners for paid ads is the bare minimum to compensate.
