Hey Cracked, just asking your opinion on this case, I wanna know if I am wrong or if I was being a dickhead here.

I recently asked my friend to look for someone to animate my existing logo.
He found a few people, but long story short.

I offered 20 USD for a simple animation. I asked the guy in general what I was looking for which was something not flashy, very corporate.

He sends two examples.




I told him, I didn't like either of them, so I asked for something more specific.

I asked if I could get the green bar scanner effect over my logo.










He goes ahead a send me this lol ..





I told him I will no longer need his service because he said the line is impossible to do, so i said, okay, based on that, ill pay you 5 USD out of the 20 USD for your time, but I won't be using your designs.

He opens scam report.

end of story, @Teken came and decided we pay 10 USD, I asked why I should pay for such an image, when they are not good, took him 5 mins to come back with it.

HE BANNED MY FRIEND over 10 USD for a shit designs

Graphic design is a service not a product. 

You should have probed them for their portfolio and decided if he was a good fit for your project.

but if my customer is not satisfied, and cant force them to pay for subpar material

If it's a permanent ban then he should pay the 50% and do an appeal to make amends instead of saying, "it's better to be banned, than to pay a jerk like you", if it's a temp ban then those are non-negotiable.  There will always be jerks in business.

Edit: I like how you're defending your friend, but face it bro, he said "bye bye c.to", like he doesn't even give a fuck.  If I bought a dub of kush and it doesn't smoke good, a bag of cut snow and it doesn't snort good, I wouldn't be able to get a refund.  Vice versa, it's like me fronting my friend a dub and him only paying me back $10 cus it was weak kush, na bro we agreed on $20 (usually they don't pay me back either).
