Man, the answer is easier than you can think. I could not stop smoking cigarettes for a very long time. I was not sick with something, but I regularly felt pain in my lungs and I had a very strong cough. My mother knew about my addiction but could not do anything about it. I started reading reviews from people and I really wanted to overcome this addiction. On some forum I read that it is best to smoke vape and use fresh liquids with a minimum content of nicotine. I had no other easier solution, so I decided to try this method. I ordered a vape and several bottles of mint liquid with a minimum nicotine content and regularly smoked them instead of cigarettes. As a result, I stopped using cigarettes completely and vape really helped me. The funny thing is that I did not feel addicted to vape!

It's a mental thing. All the other replies to this thread are really substantive and informative. I think you'd do well to try their recommendations. I remember a celebrity going on one of those late night talk shows and she talked about a book she read, the title of which was something along the lines of, "How to quit smoking forever," and she made the claim that the book made her stop completely. 

I don't remember the details. But if all other avenues have failed, why not give books a try you know?

find online the book Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking by Allen Carr . is a good start. I have a few friends who stopped after reading the book. I got my book a few days ago but I didn't start reading.

I advise you to chew a lot of chewing gum, I know people who get infected by those around them and start smoking to feel accepted, avoid them...
