My life begins with an hour spent on a bus, enduring the first 4 hours of the journey as I sat alone and tried to clear my head and stay awake.
I was rushing to catch my next bus, and was almost hit by a guy who crossed against a red light, who in a moment of clarity I knew would surely make the same mistake the bus I was on was about to make.
I made it to Bangkok and was at the bus station with half an hour to spare.

We didn't talk much on the phone, so it was great to see his smiling face, he was a great guy.
Anyway, back to the story, I went to a cash machine and got some baht and headed to the hostel.
I woke up in the morning to the cacophony of a hostel full of hungry people.
I wasn't hungry, I just needed sleep.
We went down for breakfast and as luck would have it Innong, who knew a little English, was eating breakfast with me.
It was nice to get the company.
I gathered my things and prepared for the journey, which was going to take me over 24 hours to get to Cambodia and 4 to get back to Bangkok.
I went up to the room and told Innong goodbye, because he and his wife would be heading to Chiang Mai, Thailand for a vacation.
The trip to Cambodia was fine, I slept a little bit, walked a little bit, walked a little bit more.
The landscape was breathtaking, the kind of thing you would see in National Geographic, but there was no one there to appreciate it with me.
The mood was broken when we stopped in Kratie to pick up the other two people I would be traveling with, but to no avail.
They were taking the same bus I was taking back, so we parted ways.
I kept traveling, and traveling, and traveling some more.
I stopped for breakfast and Innong came with me, and we walked around town, just talking.
As I was finishing my breakfast and getting ready to take a nap, Innong had the bright idea to stop for some noodles, which were delicious.
We sat there talking for a long while, it was wonderful.

We kept talking as we walked through the town until I finally took my nap.
When I woke up we went out to find dinner, we sat at a cafe with an owner, and watched a cook make some delicious food, it was amazing, and free.
We walked the streets of Kratie and the whole time we were laughing and smiling, we were having an amazing time together.
We got to the bus station just in time for the bus to leave for Thailand.
We were sad to leave one another, but we exchanged email addresses so we would be in touch.
I didn't want to say goodbye.
I don't know how long Innong and his wife would be staying in Thailand, I could've looked into it but didn't.
The next few days were spent traveling, doing interviews, writing, doing school, going out, and eating, eating, and eating.
