I’ve always loved MMOs, and the idea of sharing my adventures and achievements in a shared fantasy world is a gaming experience that’s hard to beat for me. I’ve spent thousands of hours on runescape/OSRS for a big chunk of my life. Probably another thousand hours in GW2.
The thing about these games though, is that because they just go on forever, and that there’s always something new to grind for, it always felt hard for me to play other games. I had this mentality that any time I invested in other games was time lost that I could’ve used to progress my character in my current MMO. This was particularly true in OSRS where the concept of “no xp waste” is held. GW2 has been much easier to put down and pick up where I left off later Speed Test https://vidmate.bid/ .
But every year I see all these incredible new games get released that I’ve chosen to ignore because I’d rather play an MMO day in and day out. And while I am having fun playing MMOs, it does sometimes feel more of an addiction to the routine and endless progress than it feels like purely fun gameplay.
I picked up the new Prince of Persia game, which is a single player metroidvania style game, kind of just determined to try something different. And man, it has been such a blast. Making it passed a difficult boss fight, solving puzzles, clearing a new area of the map, is giving me this awesome feeling of satisfaction that I sort of forgot about with single player games. It makes me want to take a break from MMOs and try some more of these games I’ve been missing out on.
Just something I felt like sharing, because time spent playing games is supposed to be fun at the end of the day.
