Portable PrivateWin10 v0.50a Multilanguage[Image: privatewin10-portable.png]

Privacy is important. Windows offers a dedicated section for this. Here you can configure what data Windows and other apps can access. However, if you wish to control even more, and looking for a simple interface, today we have PrivateWin10. This application offers an intuitive interface which lets you instantly turn privacy options on and off. In simple words, Private Win10 or Private WinTen is an  Advanced Privacy Tool for Windows 10.
To solve privacy issues with other software the tool includes a powerful custom firewall frontend for the windows built in firewall.
Finally there is a new build of priv10, large parts of the code base have been reworked to solve some more fundamental issues of windows firewall handling.
Most issues have been fixed and the usability greatly improved. Also many new features have been added, priv10 now shows in addition to the firewall log also a list of all open sockets with data rates. The tool is also capable of showing the remote host names for remote IP’s wherever possible it shows the domains as queried by the application as reverse DNS is very unreliable in the age of CDN’s hence its used only as a fallback.
A new feature called Tweak Guard monitors the state of the applied privacy tweaks and warns, or re applies (depending on the setting) when a tweak has been un done.
An other new feature, the Rule Guard, monitors firewall rules and prevents 3rd party changes when desired, or just warns the user (depending on the setting), this is especially useful to ensure apps from the windows store wont get internet access, as the msft store always auto adds allow rules without asking the user.
Last but not least the overview page now features an own event log showing priv10 activity.
Once you install this application, you can configure it to work as a service with the option to configure privacy, and also manage the Windows Firewall. If you ask me why this tool is better than the default option, the answer is simple. It offers straightforward options to manage privacy which is easier to understand. Also, you can use this tool to control options which are not available in Windows Privacy settings directly.
After installation, and setting this up with Admin Privileges, switch to Privacy section. It will load all the current Privacy settings on your account. Then it will offer you a list of settings which can be customized even deeper. It has options to block system access to files and registry keys in order to enforce privacy whenever Windows does not provide a satisfying setting for that.
You can manage options for:
  • Telemetry & Error Reporting
  • Search and Cortana
  • Windows Defender
  • Privacy and Advertisement
  • Microsoft Account
  • Apps & Store
  • Others.
