THE NEW VOICE OF UK
If Donald Trump returns to the White House in January, European countries will likely have to shoulder providing military aid to Ukraine on their own, Yale University history professor Timothy Snyder said in an interview with NV on Oct. 5.
In Snyder’s forecast, Trump’s potential second term will see the United States pressuring Ukraine into a ceasefire deal with Russia, under the threat of losing U.S. security assistance.
“The Trump administration would be very unpredictable,” the historian said.
“However, one thing can be predicted: they will almost certainly try to pressure Ukraine into negotiations by threatening to cut off weapons supplies.”

He suggested that if Trump wins, countries like Poland, the UK, and possibly France, will attempt to increase their support for Ukraine.
“I don't want to say that Europe alone would be sufficient to support Ukraine against the Russian invasion,” Snyder added.
“I think it will be very difficult. Not impossible, but very, very difficult.”
