I'd really like to see a guide or ebook on ways you can check analyze, test and scan tools and other downloaded things for malware.
For example if I were to download a crack tool. I'm always told just run in sandboxie, vm, or RDP, but that's a LQ answer & should common sense to want to understand it all.
I know things like those or scanning with AV but would still want to see some other methods not found as easily. Things to look out for. Example, I'd tested a tool on my rdp and got infected. Nothing detected it just obvious signs. I stumbled onto recently changed and infected files in my Windows folder. After research found you could open file in notepad and it would have certain content and warned of things that it shouldn't say.
