Legitimacy of threads

Hi, I am new to the forum, most of leaks/files etc. are posted as mega link or some similar source. How do I know that the links and content is legit and that I am not downloading a bunch of key loggers viruses rats etc.  Any help and suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hello, if you want to be safe don't instantly download NEW posts but once that are up for a longer time, to be extra safe only download from trusted/repped members

That's a great idea I havent thought about using a vm, I know it won't be fully secure but I guess it will be enough for some basic malware that I can encounter.
