In 2001, two well-known open source projects in Russia decided to cooperate closely, which eventually resulted in ALT Linux as an organization for the development and provision of free software. ALT Linux is made available in several variants for a variety of application areas, for example for the home and office sector, special development platforms with corresponding tools and documentation, for educational institutions or for unusual computer architectures. A separate software repository called Sisyphos, provides all ALT Linux distributions with updates and news.
NOTE: The free use of this distribution is restricted to private (personal) use. A written license agreement is required for corporate use.
