Representatives of the regulator reported the blocking of Viber on the territory of the Russian Federation due to non-compliance with the requirements of Russian legislation.
As Interfax notes, back in January 2022, the owner of the Viber messenger, Viber Media S.a r.l., registered in Luxembourg, opened a representative office in Russia to comply with the law on "landing".
According to the relevant Roskomnadzor list, the company has fulfilled all the main obligations of a foreign entity under this law: not only did it open a representative office in Russia, but also created a personal account on the Roskomnadzor website, and also created an electronic form for Russian users to apply on its Internet resources.
