- Note that it says "Rotating every minute" and "800k-1.4M Pool"
pixed's messages about the service:
- main countries for the IPs: "its mix, sometimes majority of US or FR, EU"
- how many IPs do we have access to at once?: "u will get 300 ips, all ips from the pool be refreshed every min", "300 ips > rotating"
- how many unique IPs?: "for us, i rent a pool of 1 M that is equally distributed and refreshed among members, so u get a new ip after 1 min"
- "... i am certain i have set the logic correct for the proxies, they will rotate every min, each new ip, If u feel the pool is small, i can refresh the pool too"
After receiving access to the proxies, I initially ran my script to check unique IPs for 36 minutes (I actually ran for 38 minutes but just in case the first and last minutes are partial (i.e. not a full minute), I am not counting them). I only got 697 unique IPs in that 36 minute span.
proxies.black advertises a pool of 800,000 to 1,400,000 IPs for residential. 36 minutes * 300 IPs = 10,800 IPs. But, I was only able to access 697 unique IPs in that time. Statiscally, it is highly unlikely that I was getting same IPs even when the pool of 300 IPs rotated 36 times.
After I asked for the refund:
- Since there is 800k (or more) IPs in the pool, why did I only get 697 unique IPs in the span of 36 minutes. Don't you think it's statistically unlikely that when the pool is refreshed 36 times, which if none of the IPs repeated, that would total in only 697 unique IPs?: "its not refreshed 36 times"
- It's not every minute as advertised?: "its refreshed according to the plan" "i said pool, not ips :lollipop:" "ips are every 1 min, from each front"
pixed backtracked on their statement that the IPs rotate every minute. When I mentioned that I had a bad experience with Ghostealth, pixed understood that "ghostealth is every request" and said that proxies.black is setup such that I "get a new ip after 1 min".
So, I continued to run my script to collect the total number of unique IPs and I let it run and I stopped it at 2 hours and 21 minutes because the number of unique IPs became stagnant. I ended up with only 1,329 unique IPs. I ran another script to check the geolocation of all of the IPs. The full distribution is available here: https://pastebin.com/wm7EUqTT (mirror: https://ghostbin.co/paste/63swdaa ). As you can see, only 1 out of the 1,329 IPs was from the United States. This does not line up with their statement "its mix, sometimes majority of US or FR, EU".
When I brought this up, they said "its sometimes". So in a pool of 1,400,000, with 1,000,000 consisting of United States IPs, I only ended up with 1 of them in 1,329 unique IPs? 71.42% of the main pool (assuming a total of 1,400,000 IPs) consists of US IPs, but of the IPs I got, only 0.075244% of them were from the United States. It simply does not make sense.
Service is not as advertised.
