Opinions are like assholes...everybody's got one.  I do tend to agree with @ANG though. It just makes more sense when you have a shared codebase and have multiple projects referencing the same code.  For individual projects you can decide what works best for that project, but for the shared code you're probably going to want to use OOP. 

Also, it's not like you start a project thinking..."okay, this is going to be 100% object oriented / pure functions"...you just use what makes the most sense for whatever you're trying to accomplish.
