As the world becomes increasingly digital, the field of hacking is constantly evolving.

In this discussion, let's explore the emerging trends and technologies in the world of hacking, such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things.

How will these technologies impact the way we approach hacking and pentesting?
What new challenges will they present?

Share your thoughts on the future of hacking and how we can stay ahead of the curve.

Let's have a lively discussion and learn from each other's insights.

This is such a cool topic to discuss about! ^^

To be fair AI involved in cybersecurity does indeed help a lot at preventing breaches. Take for example some EDRs and SOARs use AI and ML to detect prevent and deny attacks. Of course this kind of equipment is not available to everyone.

These days there are so many security controls in place and so much intelligence analysis behind the processes it becomes harder to hack.
We should take a look at what hacking was 20 or 30 years ago. It was significantly easier to hack into computer system than it is today BUT it was significantly harder to gain that level of knowledge. Nowadays you have some many options and platforms that make learning hacking a lot way easier through structured learning.

I think AI and ML help the the IT industry just as much as it threatens it. We have already seen that ChatGPT is able to write some low level malware. It is not too complex to be considered a real threat... FOR NOW.

I think we need to be should be more inclined to learn about HOW SYSTEMS WORK rather than HOW TO HACK INTO a certain system. Why is that ? I think of.. rather i want to see AI as a tool. You need to have much more in depth knowledge about systems to write specific prompts that help you.

You probably cannot fight against AI, some might (or for sure) lose their jobs like SOC Level 1 Triage Analyst. This can now be entirely done using AI and a big-ass data lake. The only thing you can do is learn how to use it to your advantage.

Currently AI serves as an extremely powerful tool for learning. Of course in the future it will still be the same. But it will also have the necessary knowledge to not need things you want to be done explained in detail since will be more trained.

That might be the point where AI created attack chains, malware and tools might become an actual real world threat.

We havent even taken into consideration the social engineering part. There have been cases where AI generated phishing attacks have taken place. Lets also think about emerging Cloud technologies. I can talk a LOT more about this since I am an avid technology enthusiast and combined with the fact i also have the opportunity to research these things from a technical perspective it makes the nerd in me get excited over the moon.

Thank you for giving me the change to talk about these things ! Heart
