The name really says it all. Please vote for your favorite text editor.  Feel free to chime in below and leave feedback on your experiences, or discuss a better one that was not on the list.
Personally I have used Notepad++, Atom, and Sublime text.  I like sublime text the most, Atom is great but it seems to use more resources and keeps a lot of history (I could probably change this).  Notepad++ has become my least favorite compared to Sublime text.  Also I prefer nano over VIM.

Notepad++
Atom
Sublime Text
Brackets
UltraEdit
TextEdit
KomodoEdit
Kate
Vim
Nano

sublime text is probably one of my favorite to code on because of all the nice shortcuts it has. notepad++ is my favorite for text manipulation!

I use phpDesigner8. It hasn't been updated in a while, but it still holds up for my usual coding needs. I have been getting into Eclipse for other things. I like both, but phpDesigner is what I've been using for years.
