Trace stolen phone

Recently I got my phone stolen and I was wondering if there were any ways I can trace it back.
My phone is - iPhone 7 - sim connected to Xfinity Mobile - also FindMyIphone was never even setted up on the phone.

I had a friend whose xbox got stolen and they caught the thief because he plugged it in and was playing live from his house. Believe they tracked the IP. That said, it'll probably be harder with a phone and they were really bent on finding the guy cause he made off with a bunch of other stuff from their house too (police report, etc.). Anywho good luck m8
