Virustotal should be included in thread.

Imagine not running those tools in a RDP or VM. Skill issue.

Even if enforced, VT doesn't always prove that the file is clean, it doesnt take a genius (and I assure you that many amateur RAT spreaders that come here aren't) to mask the vt by scanning a clean version of the file and then uploading on the thread the backdoored version or by simply using a private crypt.
The only way to cool things down is having active disinfectors that check uploaded files for malware, there's open applications for that role right now so hopefully we'll soon get new people checking for that type of stuff.

As a rule of thumb, even though you can't really enforce this, everyone should run those programs on a VM, RDP or sandboxed environment.

That's totally true, however there are lots of no knowledge guys about this, but maybe it d be better if they even implemented a simple pop up when you try to open a link saying This may contain virus,for your own safeety operate in a VM
