I think that school will be important for you, just to make contacts and to socialize with people, also will teach you only basic skills like reading, writing and things like that but if you really want to learn, you need to do it on your own.

This is definitely true.

The idea of 'learning on your own' will become more obvious when you take masteral or doctorate courses. The tuition fees are very high yet your professors will just give you an outline of what you are going to study and you will be on your own to research, learn and be ready to defend what you have learn ON YOUR OWN during exams and thesis deliberation/defense.
