Why wasn't Kendrick on First Person Shooter?

That line from Cole regarding himself, Drake and Kendrick being triumvirate of greatness was a surefire setup for the three of them being on this track together, and would have made the song beyond Legendary.
I understand Kendrick couldn't wrap his brain around Drake supposedly squashing beef with Kanye, so he himself took that as Drake maturing and he needing to do the same. But considering that Drake DIDN'T truly squash the beef, maybe Kendrick took that as a sign for him to not squash said beef with Drake, as well?
Also, didn't Drake try to reach out to Kendrick at one point to make amends?
