wym by privacy? if you want to be fully anonymous on the net i suggest you tails os based on TOR, that guarantees full anonimity, you can't really use it as a primary os but you can boot it in a USB.
if you want to use linux for anonimity, heh there isn't much to talk about same things as windows (TOR, VPS/VPN, Burner Mail etc... you get it), but if you mean "privacy" like open source, virus free or want something fast. i can recommend you something like mint or any easy-to-use distro based on debian for beginners. if you want something a bit more advanced but still beginner friendly, you can try Manjaro KDE Plasma based on Arch. It's really good looking and fast, even on slower and older hardware. This is what I personally like but you really have to try putting them on a virtual machine and then you decide whether you like it or not. In case of an investigation by any federal entity or similar, I do not have any involvement with this group or with the people in it, I do not know how I am here, probably added by a thrid party, I do not support any actions by the member of this group.

Im not looking to use tails as it does not seem like a functionable OS.
im looking for a primary OS which can grant me more privacy than windows does. well thats why I chose linux, the question is which distro fits me the most and can be used for all needs. browsed a bit and found one called "Fedora". know about it?

There is nothing wrong with choosing the most basic distribution known to man, I am of course talking about "Ubuntu", but there are also several wonderful choices for someone who is trying to migrate from "Windows", distributions like "Linux Mint", "Manjaro". The reason why I am recommending "Manjaro" is because it's based on Arch Linux and just like any distribution that is based on Arch Linux it has Pacman as package manager, but I am not recommending Arch Linux to you, that is a tale for another time.

@ojE2A6hk alluded to what my recommendation is: First pick the package manager that you want to use, then pick a distribution that uses that package manager.
Debian based systems use apt / dpkg. Arch based systems use pacman. Fedora, RedHat, and CentOS use rpm / yum / dnf. You can reference https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Package_ma...f_commands to see some of the differences. Also, I'll second what @EggMann said. You should really try out a few in virtual machines *before* picking one as your primary OS.

I highly recommend debian based OS as you can easily find anything cuz of the wide and active forums they own. for example I use ubuntu even tho i hate the Gnome GUI, but i'm relatively "new" to the Linux community and i can solve any problem just by googling it, eventually i'm gonna install something more CLI addressed as i learn more things, but not a big deal, tell me your choice when you will decide In case of an investigation by any federal entity or similar, I do not have any involvement with this group or with the people in it, I do not know how I am here, probably added by a thrid party, I do not support any actions by the member of this group.
