For me always steam. But that is mostly because I am biased. Thats where I find my lovely indie games that can often be so good. I really want to support indie developers.
A far as I know Epic games just buys everything with money to try and get ahead. Not really a motto I like to support.

Steam for stable game launcher, more games available and regionalized prices. Epic Games for heavily discounted with coupon purchase for games and for redeeming free games.

Mainly using steam now since it has better region pricing and most of my game collection is already there, but I don't see why I wouldn't be using epic once I get enough free games there at some point in time
