I have an extremely weird issue I want to ask the thread about. I used this thread to crack Turbo Tax 2022 and electronically file (for free) my Federal tax return and my NC state tax return (one state). I had to pay taxes to the IRS and I was to get a refund from NC. I put my account number and routing number for paying out of my bank account for the IRS and direct deposit for my NC. Both returns were accepted within a couple hours. However, the IRS dinged my account the following week for $62 more than was on the Line 37 ($1637 -> $1699) without any explanation. I didn't question it, but there has been a holdup on my NC state return refund so I decided to call them today to see what was going on. Th representative said it's just taking more time this year but she would expedite it as there was no problem. However, the amount she said is being refunded is $2 less than Line 34 on my electronically filed return ($568 -> $566). Out of curiosity, I asked her to visually check the transmitted return. She says that it's $566 on Line 34 of my transmitted return - bizarre. (It's $568 on Line 34 of my return.) She said she had never experienced anything like that and of course suggested I contact Turbo Tax. (Of course I'm not going to do that.)
I have never experienced anything like this either in all my years of filing income taxes and using Turbo Tax. It leads me to believe that somehow my federal return was probably altered by $62 in transmission also. How is this possible? Does anyone have an explanation? Thank you.
