What do people think of Witcher 3 as an "rpg?"

I've been playing through Witcher 3 for the first time lately. It's clearly good but also flawed in a lot of ways imo, mostly in how much of an "rpg" it really is. I feel like playing as Geralt kinda hampers my ability to play a unique role and immerse myself, but then maybe it's okay to play as an already established main character in an RPG if you still have agency over their decisions and the role they play? It's kind of an interesting discussion I'd been having in my head and I wanted to know what other people think of it
thankyou

I don't see the problem or why it shouldn't count as an rpg

You actually play a role not creating your role so i don't see why it should not be in RPG as Zeitgeist said!

To be honest game become boring a bit, i find Elder Scrolls more intriguing then this but it's a good game!

It gets boring easy, but it's still a RPG, but you don't create a customized character, you play as a predefined character.

I kinda agree with you, the point of an RPG game is entirely or at least mostly the 'roleplay' part of it. I mean yes, its a fantasy game designed to put you in the shoes of a witcher in a fabricated world, but some could say you would be more immersed if you WERE the character. It may still be an RPG as you can always immerse yourself and pretend to be Geralt, but yes, customization would definetly make it more immersive.
